How to verify your military status

Valor is only for the military community, so we confirm your military connection before you can start earning cashback.

How it works

  1. Sign up in the Valor app and enter your service details when asked.

  2. You'll verify automatically through SheerID, our military verification partner. If SheerID confirms your status, you're all set and can link your card.

  3. If SheerID can't verify you, you can verify manually by sending us a document. This happens a lot. SheerID's database doesn't include every service member, so it usually isn't anything you did wrong.

Manual verification: what to send

If SheerID can't verify you, reply in the Valor support chat in the app and our team will tell you what to send. This is the same for military spouses, dependents and retirees. Please don't send documents by email.

Black out or blur anything you're not comfortable sharing. We only need to see your name, branch and military affiliation.

Include the name and email or phone number on your Valor account so we can find you.

What happens next

A person on the Valor team reviews what you sent and, if it looks right, approves your account. Our chat assistant can't approve accounts. Reviews usually take 1–3 business days after you send your document. We'll reply in the same chat.

After you're approved, close the Valor app completely and open it again. If the app still says you aren't verified, message us.

If we can't verify you

If your document doesn't show what we need, we'll tell you what's missing so you can send something else.

Can I use ID.me or GovX?

Valor uses SheerID to verify military status, not ID.me or GovX. If SheerID can't verify you at signup, reply in the support chat and our team will tell you what to send instead.

Your privacy

We only use what you send to confirm you're eligible. We don't sell or share your information.
