Valor links to your bank through Plaid, a secure service used by apps like Venmo. We can only see your transactions. We can't move money or make charges.
How to link
In the Valor app, go to your wallet.
Choose the option to link a card.
Choose your bank and log in with your normal online banking username and password.
Select every account and card you want to use, including credit cards. If you skip one, purchases on it won't count.
Common problems
My bank's security code isn't accepted. Close the linking screen and start over so you get a new code. Enter it quickly, since codes expire. If it keeps failing, message us with your bank's name and a screenshot of the error.
I linked my checking account but don't see my debit card. That's normal. When you link a checking account, purchases with its debit card are tracked through that account.
My credit card is missing. Relink your bank and make sure you select the credit card when you choose which accounts to link.
The app says I need to relink. This happens when we lose the connection to your bank, usually after you change your bank password or your bank updates its systems. Unlink the card and link it again. You can unlink a card yourself in the app. If you can't find the option, reply in the support chat. Purchases made while the connection was down usually still come through after you relink. If a purchase still hasn't shown up after you relink, message us.
My card stopped working after my bank or card issuer changed its app. Unlink it and link it again.
Which cards work?
Debit and credit cards from most U.S. banks and credit unions that Plaid supports.
Apple Pay counts if the card behind it is linked.
You need at least one debit card linked to withdraw cashback.
If a card won't link, reply in the support chat.
After linking
Pay with the linked card at a partner merchant. Swipe, tap or use Apple Pay. You don't need to open the app or show anything.
Still stuck?
Message us in the app with your bank's name and a screenshot of any error. Please don't create a new Valor account to try again, because that can split your cashback.
